Welcome to evmarket.co.za. We went live on 1 November 2026 for South Africans who are thinking about buying an electric car but aren't sure what's on sale, how the cars compare, or what one would cost to run. We'll also keep you up to date on EVs and electric mobility in South Africa.

See what's on sale

Our South African catalogue compares 138 models from 35 brands, including every electric and plug-in hybrid car on sale here, with prices researched on 25 October 2026. You can filter by brand, or show only electric cars or only plug-in hybrids.

For each car you'll see its price, how far it goes on a charge in real driving, its battery size, power, 0 to 100 km/h time and boot space, plus the date we last checked the price.

Compare them side by side

Add the cars you like to a comparison to see them next to each other. Tell us about your driving, and the catalogue ranks the cars by how well they suit you.

Work out what a car would really cost you

The running-cost calculator at evmarket.co.za/cars compares cars over the years you'd own them. You can describe your situation in your own words to our AI assistant or fill in a simple form instead. The assistant stays off until you agree to use it, and the calculator-only mode sends nothing to AI.

Cost of ownership covers depreciation, interest, energy, maintenance, tyres, insurance and licensing, minus what the car is worth when you sell it. There are also sections on home energy, money and fleets.

Where the numbers come from

Vehicle prices and specifications come from a researched list of cars on sale in South Africa, each with its source. Petrol prices and public charging rates are researched too, and you can change sample values such as your home electricity tariff.

Prices are guide prices, so confirm with a dealer before you buy. Nothing on the site is financial advice.

News

Our news section covers new launches, prices, charging and monthly sales figures, so you can follow how the South African EV market is changing.

We're glad you're here. Have a look around, try an estimate with your own driving and see how the numbers work out for you.
